The Boat Approach
From Zephyr Cove, head north along the East Shore. The cruise passes the entire East Shore cluster — Cave Rock (8 min), Skunk Harbor (15 min), Chimney Beach (18 min), Whale Beach (20 min), Secret Cove (22 min), Bonsai Rock (27 min). Hidden Beach sits between Bonsai Rock and Sand Harbor, about 25-28 minutes north of Zephyr Cove.
Anchor 100-200 feet offshore in 10-20 feet of water. Granite bottom with sand patches. Smaller space than Secret Cove, but typically lower competition for anchorages.

The Famous Reputation
Hidden Beach has a clothing-optional reputation that long pre-dates official rules — it's been an unofficial nude beach on Lake Tahoe for decades. Nevada law technically prohibits public nudity, but historic enforcement at Hidden Beach has been inconsistent. Visitors should be prepared for the possibility but not assume it will occur.
Finding Hidden Beach
True to its name, Hidden Beach isn't easy to spot from open water. The beach sits in a narrow notch between rock outcroppings on the East Shore between Sand Harbor and Cave Rock. Approach by boat from the north (Sand Harbor side) — the beach reveals itself as you cruise past the cliffs. By land, the access is via the East Shore Trail or a short scramble from a small unmarked pullout on Highway 28.
Boat Anchoring Notes
Hidden Beach has a rockier bottom than the nearby coves. Anchor carefully — look for sandy patches and avoid dropping on visible rocks. The cove is small; if multiple boats arrive, anchoring space gets tight. Most boats anchor 50-150 feet offshore.
Family Considerations
Most groups with children avoid Hidden Beach due to the clothing-optional reputation. If your group includes minors, Whale Beach, Skunk Harbor, or Chimney Beach are better East Shore alternatives.
Crowds
Smaller capacity than other East Shore beaches means it crowds faster proportionally. Mid-week is quieter than weekends. Pre-9 AM tends to be empty; mid-day is busiest.
